Gaining knowledge about your personal finances is a first step toward long-term financial stability. Join Jim Ritter, certified financial coach, and Coast Central Credit Union representatives for an overview of the basic principles of personal finance. Included are tips about budgeting, managing credit and debt, saving, investing, and insurance. After the workshop, Jim Ritter will offer FREE financial coaching appointments to attendees who would like to work on their personal financial goals. Appointments will focus on your individual goals and give you the opportunity to ask questions in a confidential, one-on-one setting.

Jim Ritter recently completed two terms on the Arcata Chamber board of directors. He is a Ramsey Solutions, LLC certified financial coach offering free financial literacy training and coaching to Humboldt County residents, educators, and businesses. The coaching can focus on goals and questions about debt reduction, budgeting, college savings for children, retirement planning, writing a will, or just learning more about how to save and invest for your family slowly over time.
Kay Serotta joined Coast Central in 2018, bringing with her 25 years of credit union experience. She currently serves as Assistant Vice President/Member Services Branches South, overseeing management and operational activities at six locations in Arcata, Eureka, and Fortuna. She
formerly held the position of Arcata Uniontown Manager, Member Services. A graduate of Humboldt State University (now Cal Poly), Kay has been active in the community, including Friends for Animal Life Rescue, Arcata Noon Rotary, Arcata Chamber of Commerce, and serves as Chair for the Board of Commissioners’ Eureka Housing Authority.
Stephanie Poletski serves as Eureka Harrison Manager, Member Services, overseeing a team of nine, responsible for operations, member relations and new member opportunities. Stephanie has worked at Coast Central for a total of 15 years, working at Arcata Giuntoli as a Member Services Rep, New Accounts Rep, and Member Services Supervisor as well as a stint at the Fortuna location. Stephanie is a Humboldt County native and graduate of McKinleyville High School. She is active in her community, volunteering for Humboldt Bay CERT, Humboldt County Farm Bureau, and with foster youth.
Jera Newland has been Coast Central’s Manager, Member Services, at its Eureka Downtown location since joining the credit union in 2019, bringing with her 13 years of local financial institution experience. Jera oversees a team of 10 and was named Volunteer of the Quarter earlier this year. She is Board Treasurer of Cancer Crushers, has been a Rotarian, volunteers at local Chambers, and has presented financial literacy lessons to hundreds of local students. Jera is a Humboldt County native, attending Eureka High School.
